This drum is an absolute monster. All the press comments about it being "So loud it will crack your skull" are nowhere near the truth. When tuned low she has the most beautiful, warm and rounded tone with no untoward overtones at all, just a pure and perfectly formed sound with a sensitivity that has to be experienced to believe it. Tuned high, she develops a tremendously penetrating crack, again with no harsh overtones at all and retaining the warmth and ultimate sensitivity of the low tuning. Now, when she's cranked up is when the real fun starts. Loud is not enough. Crack is not enough. Penetrating is not enough. When this baby is cranked up she is so astoundingly deafening that I had a pain in my nose from the impact of the rimshots and I had drummer's earplugs in too ! All the sensitivity and tone is there but crack ? Oh my god. It's unbelievable. |
